WHAT SHOULD WE DO TO PREVENTCHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE?
The answer to this question is actually quite simple. Because doing what is necessary to live a healthy life will also protect us from preventable kidney disease.
To prevent kidney disease, you should eat a healthy diet, drink enough fluids, exercise regularly, maintain an ideal weight, avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, avoid inappropriate pain medications, reduce salt intake, and have your blood pressure and blood sugar checked regularly, especially after age 40.
If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, a family history of kidney disease, are overweight, or are 60 years of age or older, you should have your kidneys checked regularly at least once a year, whether you have symptoms or not.
